Leading Power System Technology Expert Dr. Gregory Reed Joins KEMA

New Senior VP Heads Firm’s Successful Power System Planning and Management Practice

(BURLINGTON, MASS., January 8, 2007) – Utility industry business and technical consulting firm KEMA Inc. welcomes Dr. Gregory Reed as Senior Vice President of its Power System Planning and Management practice. With extensive experience in supporting and developing power system technologies and services, Reed will lead the continued strategic growth of KEMA’s successful technical T&D practice in North America, focusing on client issues related to transmission planning, asset management, system protection and reliability, and future power systems.

Prior to joining KEMA, Reed spent the majority of the past 10 years with Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., most recently as director of business & technology development, and had also served as general manager of the power systems division. Previously, while working on his Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh, he was employed with the ABB Transmission Technology Institute as a senior engineer, including an engagement with the ABB Corporate Research Center, and also worked as a consulting engineer for the Westinghouse Science & Technology Center in the advanced electro-mechanical systems division. Reed began his career in the electric power industry at the Consolidated Edison Co. of New York, Inc. where he served as an engineer in various areas, including electric planning, system operations, engineering and system analysis, and relay protection.

Reed earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a concentration in electric power from the University of Pittsburgh; his Masters of Engineering in electric power engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and his B.S. in electric power engineering from Gannon University. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh where he teaches power engineering courses, and is currently teaching a graduate course at Carnegie Mellon University. In addition, he is an active member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society, participating in various committees, task forces, and working groups.

Reed will be based out of KEMA’s Raleigh, North Carolina office.
