Energy Efficiency & Savings
KEMA's energy efficiency services help you achieve energy savings to be less vulnerable to the energy market and be prepared for the future
Energy is one of the most important commodities of modern society. It must be used in the most economical way, being as sustainable as possible and causing minimal harm to society. A challenge in which KEMA wants to be your partner.
The Trias Energetica is our guide line: first reducing the need for energy, second fulfill the need by means of renewable energy and finally to make use of fossil fuels in an optimal way, preferably combining heat and power. KEMA helps to cut energy costs, to be less vulnerable to the energy market and to be prepared for the future.
Industries
KEMA helps industry make their energy infrastructure future proof by energy demand site assessments. Both equipment scale (clever e-motor control) and process scale approaches (pinch scale, cascade approach) are possible. Indirect effects like water (re)use, waste prevention and recycling, reduction consumables (compressed air) can be tackled too. Upgrading gas, electricity and steam/heat infrastructure is part of the service. The scope differs from strategy development and feasibility towards execution of “hands on” energy conservation programs. KEMA can help create an economically sound balancebetween energy consumption, energy production by industry and energy purchase/selling.
Build environment
KEMA works in the build environment making energy infrastructure in cities more sustainable. The starting point is often energy need. The challenge is how to fulfill this need in the best way possible. Steam and waste heat utilization is part of our business portfolio, as are district heating networks. Renewable solutions such as wind, bio-energy and solar are also covered. The question many people are now asking is "How can we make our city up to 100 % renewable?". KEMA has developed approaches to make this possible.
KEMA is involved in several European projects in a project manager role (e.g. Concerto initiative) and as expert. An example is the city of Arnhem in the Netherlands; KEMA is developing a sustainable vision for the city, combining energy production with energy savings.
Agro sector
In the agro sector greenhouses are the biggest energy consumers per unity product. KEMA is at the forefront of this industry, developing, reviewing and monitoring new energy concepts, such as the energy-neutral greenhouse. Heat-pumps, geothermal energy, combined heat and power, LED lighting and solar energy, will play a part in the future of greenhouses. Optimal integration of these technologies in differing conditions is a key area of expertise provided by KEMA.
