KEMA-Powertest - USA

KEMA-Powertest, LLC, is the largest high-power electrical testing laboratory in the United States. We provide electrical power, dielectric, and mechanical testing services to a variety of clients in the energy and utility industry. KEMA PowerTest

As part of KEMA's Testing, Inspections, and Certification group, KEMA-Powertest is an independent lab—we are not affiliated with any manufacturers or suppliers. We provide accurate measurements for equipment performance, and we offer third-party testing, inspection, and certification services. Our test reports and type test certificates are recognized and accepted by manufacturers, utilities, and end users of electrical power equipment worldwide.

The laboratory has two short-circuit generators, rated 1,000 MVA and 2,250 MVA; a 1,500 kV impulse generator; a 600 kV power frequency test set; a 13 kA thermal supply; battery test cells; a 2 MW grid-connected energy storage test lab; and other associated test equipment.

KEMA-Powertest is optimized to develop and customize tests. The lab offers a large range of tests, two customer assembly bays, a machine workshop, and web-supported remote witnessing of tests.

KEMA-Powertest continuously invests in new equipment, improved testing techniques, as well as personnel training to stay at the leading edge of technology. The laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025 by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation. We can provide proposals and quotes and assist with test programs to be performed at the KEMA High-Power or High-Voltage Laboratories in the Netherlands. We can also coordinate with these labs to perform test programs they send.

In addition to high-quality electrical and mechanical testing services, we can conduct field-testing and provide engineering consulting services such as failure investigations for equipment, including  switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and cables. KEMA-Powertest’s close relationship with DNV KEMA Consulting enables us to handle a broad range of requests.

Located in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, 25 miles north of Philadelphia, KEMA-Powertest is accessible by major airlines or train.
